If you choose a Hart’s Traditional Turkey, you will be enjoying good wholesome meat, produced in the traditional way. Turkey meat is lowest in calories and highest in protein, and the current interest in healthy eating matches our belief that only the best is good enough for our customers. Although more expensive to produce, there continues to be a growing demand for this type of meat, full of natural flavour.
Our turkeys are truly traditional –
they are specially selected slow-growing strains, reared to full adult maturity
on our own farm. They are free range, and have access to pastures where they can
graze and forage naturally. They are given a natural cereal-based diet,
including locally sourced oats, with no antibiotics or additives. Everything is
done to ensure they enjoy a stress-free life.
Each turkey is prepared in purpose-built premises on our own farm. There are no short cuts. Our turkeys are entirely dry plucked by hand, and no machinery is used during processing. Food experts agree that all types of good meat get even better if hung, and our birds are no exception. They are hung for at least seven days in a controlled chilled environment to develop an even fuller flavour. Each turkey is then inspected before the TFTA’s Golden Promise Guarantee can be awarded.
Our turkeys are individually hand-finished and presented to our customers in a strong, easy to carry presentation box together with cooking instructions, a recipe booklet, and a bouquet of herbs.
We set and maintain the highest standards for our production, exceeding the minimum laid down by the TFTA, and are independently inspected by Product Authentication International on behalf of the TFTA. Our premises and processes are also approved and regularly inspected by our local Environmental Health Authority.
The TFTA traditional method of
production has been awarded the Certificate of Specific Character by the
European Union, in recognition of the fact that Golden Promise Turkeys really do
have a special quality.
Each of our turkeys is sold with this unconditional 'Golden Promise Guarantee': in the unlikely event that you are dissatisfied, we will replace your purchase.
